Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the GoLit mobile applications and related services (the “Service”), operated by CareerNub in Kenya. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
GoLit is a platform that connects:
- Customers who order cooking gas and related accessories for delivery;
- Dealers who list products, receive orders, and manage fulfilment; and
- Suppliers who deliver orders assigned by dealers.
GoLit facilitates ordering, coordination, payments where enabled, and support. Gas products are supplied by independent dealers. GoLit is not the manufacturer of gas cylinders and does not guarantee product availability in every area.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password secure.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to users or the platform.
3. Customer terms
- You must provide a valid delivery location before placing an order where required by the app.
- Prices, delivery fees, and availability are shown before you confirm an order.
- You agree to pay for accepted orders using the payment method you select (for example M-Pesa or direct payment to a dealer where offered).
- Cancellations, delays, and refunds may be subject to dealer policies and platform rules shown in the app at the time of order.
- You must treat dealers and suppliers respectfully when chatting or calling through the Service.
4. Dealer terms
- You must operate lawfully, maintain accurate shop details, catalog prices, and stock availability.
- You are responsible for fulfilling accepted orders and complying with applicable gas retail and safety regulations.
- You must keep payment details accurate for wallet, commission, and withdrawal features where enabled.
- You may link approved suppliers to help deliver orders. You remain responsible for customer service unless otherwise stated in the app.
- Platform commission, delivery fees, and wallet rules are shown in the dealer app and may be updated with notice.
5. Supplier terms
- You may only fulfil orders assigned to you through an approved dealer link.
- You must provide timely delivery updates and follow safety requirements for transporting gas products.
- You must not misuse customer contact details obtained through the Service.
6. Payments
Payments may be processed through third-party providers such as Safaricom M-Pesa. GoLit does not store your M-Pesa PIN. Payment features may be enabled or limited by region, account type, or trial status. Failed, reversed, or disputed payments may affect order status and account access.
7. Communications
The Service may include in-app chat, notifications, and voice coordination during active orders. You agree not to use these channels for harassment, spam, illegal content, or communications unrelated to fulfilment or support.
8. Ratings and reliability
GoLit may calculate reliability scores, show ratings, and apply moderation actions (including temporary limits or account review) based on order behaviour, cancellations, payment issues, and support outcomes. These features help keep the marketplace fair and safe.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks
- Attempt to access data or accounts that are not yours
- Upload malware, false listings, or misleading product information
- Reverse engineer or scrape the Service except where permitted by law
10. Intellectual property
The GoLit name, logos, app design, and software are owned by CareerNub or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the apps for their intended purpose. You retain ownership of content you upload, but grant us a licence to host and display it as needed to operate the Service.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CareerNub disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that every dealer or supplier will be available at all times.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CareerNub and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to GoLit in the three months before the claim or (b) KES 5,000, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms or modify features of the Service. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya, unless mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
